How will the comprehensive spending review affect drivers? |
|
Chancellor George Osborne announced his Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) on October 20th 2010, which details a number of policies that will affect British drivers.
Included within the document were details of £30 billion of investment set aside for improvements to the UK's transport system over the next four years and initiatives to encourage more motorists to go green.
This is despite the Department for Transport having its resource spending reduced by 21 per cent in real terms and its capital spending cut by 11 per cent.
Transport secretary Philip Hammond said that, while some difficult cuts have had to be made, the government "have secured investment to allow us to go ahead with important projects such as high speed rail, support for ultra-low carbon cars and major road building and public transport programmes".
Continuing its focus on reducing emissions from transport, the CSR included initiatives to encourage the take-up of low-carbon and electric vehicles.
The government will support a scheme for a national charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and potentially offer an incentive of £5,000 for drivers wishing to purchase low-carbon cars. |

Just like auto insurance is essential when you own a car, a fuel efficient design can be the second most important thing on your list. There are number of ways that you can design your car, with the high growing prices of fuel and gas there is a need to cut the excess costs that we spend on the fuel and gas. Following discussed is the aerodynamic design used for today’s car to get more efficiency and mileage.
Aerodynamic design was discovered for achieving better mileage. With the help of aerodynamic car designing you will save more on the mileage and money in your long drive.
It is said that driving on the highway conditions make 15-20% of the total energy required to push your car when air hits your car it makes it slow on the highway about 25-30% of the energy is wasted by the air drag making your car to use more fuel in order to maintain the speed. |

Cars! Aren’t you fascinated by the different car models? Their body, shape, color, design, etc. is simply mind blowing. Several different companies are constantly coming up with different automobile designs. The main artists behind all these wonders are the automotive designers. The overall appearance of the automobile is enhanced in the profession of automotive design. Ergonomics is also considered to some extend.
While designing an automobile all the factors such as the comfort, safety, efficiency and productivity of the equipment used in the automobile is studied and examined. Automobiles not only refer to cars but also trucks, motorcycle, buses, vans and coaches. A large team of engineers from different disciplines of automotive engineering does the functional design and development of the modern vehicles. |
